Ohio Supreme Court Seeks Feedback on GAL Report Rule Changes

 

The Supreme Court of Ohio is inviting public comments on proposed modifications to the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio, specifically Rule 48.02 and Rule 48.06, which govern the distribution and confidentiality of guardian ad litem (GAL) reports. The changes would clarify who can receive these reports, requiring attorneys to share them with their clients. Additionally, the amendments would strengthen confidentiality by prohibiting the unauthorized disclosure of GAL reports or their contents, with violations potentially resulting in contempt penalties, fines, or imprisonment.
