Cleveland Considers Lead Safe Updates

Cleveland City Hall has proposed updates to its 2019 lead safe laws to focus on high-risk properties, as only 30 percent of eligible rental units are currently in compliance. The new legislation would extend inspection renewal timelines from two years to three, and up to 10 years for landlords who replace lead painted windows and doors. It also aims to curb fraud by requiring local licenses for private lead inspectors and strengthens protections for tenants reporting lead hazards.
